To better showcase the characteristics of the site, I made an abstract bonsai using materials obtained from the site.

Main concepts

The renovation of the island boundary by the local residents has inspired us. We have discovered boundary modifications of different forms and degrees.

Lower level renovation: simple stone walls to prevent soil erosion

High level renovation: neat stone walls to prevent flooding

And

As the plants grow naturally, some of them cross the stone wall, forming a secondary shape of the boundary.

Obtaining materials on the site

Bonsai Making

I used wooden boards as the base for the entire potted plant enclosure and made a fence with wooden strips to represent human use of other materials to enclose the island. Use the soil, stones, and plants on the site to represent the contents of the island.

Unfortunately, plants did not survive in this thin soil layer, so I had to replace them with something. However, at the same time, this replacement also reflects the transformation of vegetation by human agricultural activities. At the same time, in order to better present the effect, the soil at the bottom has also been replaced with cork particles.
